8/10. CHAMPS IS RIGHT! wise1too 20 April 2022. If you're a fan of The East Side Kids, this one is one of their best. While the elements kept changing throughout the series, they all come together in this entry. The murder mystery plot is only a hook for the comedy which would solidify as they become The Bowery Boys.

Popular reviews. I enjoyed Bowery Champs (1944) better than most East Side Kids movies. More focus, most of it on Leo Gorcey, who even had a job working at a newspaper, and not as a paperboy either. And he ends up trying to solve a murder case like a moron. Exactly the way it should happen.
