Seven Were Saved (also known as S.O.S. Rescue) is a 1947 American adventure drama film directed by William H. Pine and starring Richard Denning, Catherine Craig and Russell Hayden. The film's opening title says: "This film is dedicated to the men of the AAF Air-sea rescue service, who risk their lives daily that others may live."
A nurse is taking an amnesia victim, who was imprisoned by the Japanese during WW II, to the United States in a plane piloted by Richard Denning. The passengers include a Japanese colonel on his way to Manila to face war-crime charges, and a couple who were married on the day they were liberated from a Japanese prison camp.
Her plane takes off with Captain Allen Danton and Sergeant Blair at the controls, and fellow passengers Rollin and Alice Hartley, American newlyweds who were prisoners of war in Japan, Lieutenant Martin Pinkert, who is escorting Japanese Colonel Yamura to a war crimes trial, and Smith, her amnesiac patient, whom she has not yet met.
