While training to become elite Navy soldiers, Lawrence Hammer (Rob Lowe) and Dean Mazzoli (Gale Hansen) form a close friendship. When Hammer starts dating the beautiful Barbara (Tracy Griffith), Mazzoli also has a connection with her, but doesn't act on it.
