Young Frenchwoman Mathilde searches for the truth about her missing fiancé, lost during World War I, and learns many unexpected things along the way. The love of her life is gone. But she refuses to believe he's gone forever — and she needs to know for sure.
Facing court-martial, for attempting to inflict self-mutilation and escape the horrors of the trenches during World War I, instead, the five men find themselves abandoned in the battle-scarred fields of no man's land, to meet their end by the hands of the Germans.
