Sep 11, 2023 · Drury Lane’s production of “Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash” is a lovingly performed tribute to a music legend. Performances are expertly handled by a six-person cast of actor-musicians, whose enthusiasm keeps the show moving forward, even when the thin book threatens to dull its shine.

Two cops take two bad guys (delinquent types) and a girl into custody in the backwoods of Washington state. However, the tables are soon turned, leading to a risky trek across a wooded wilderness and a killer forest fire. Good thing there's a second half, because the first is a yawner.
"...Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, now extended through August at the Mercury Theatre on Southport, deserves to be called a jukebox musical. It's a rousing evening of Johnny Cash's music--some 30 songs by Cash and other songwriters--performed by a talented band of Chicago musicians.
