Alias the Deacon is a 1940 American comedy film directed by Christy Cabanne and written by Nat Perrin and Charles Grayson. It is based on the 1925 play The Deacon by John B. Hymer and LeRoy Clemens.
The two hitch a ride with truck driver Johnny Sloan, and when they arrive at the town of Shelton, their next stop, Deke decides to pose as a deacon in order to avoid trouble with the law.
