Francis (Aidan Gillen), a dedicated Catholic, questions his faith when caring for his abusive, drunkard mother, Sal (Susan Tyrrell), begins taking a toll on his psyche. He also becomes somewhat obsessed with his gorgeous new neighbor Gloria (Emmanuelle Seigner), whom he watches constantly.
