Straight, Place and Show is a 1938 American comedy film directed by David Butler and starring the Ritz Brothers, Richard Arlen, and Ethel Merman, [1] and released by 20th Century-Fox. It based on the unproduced play Saratoga Chips by Damon Runyon and Irving Caesar.

Appearing with the Ritz Brothers in Straight, Place and Show was the already legendary Broadway sensation Ethel Merman, who got her start playing nightclubs. It was her rendition of "I Got Rhythm" in the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy that first made her famous in 1930.

Synopsis by Sandra Brennan. In this musical comedy, the Ritz Brothers inherit a racehorse but are unable to make money from him because they cannot come up with the $1,000 needed to enter him in the big race. The two get involved with the race anyway when they overhear a group of Russian jockeys conspiring to ruin the race.
