We have had some issues with other recent Paramount-handled releases from Kino in terms of presentations looking overly smooth to the point of suspecting DNR had been taken too far.

Critics reviews. As India is in the midst of civil war, American Steve Gibbs attempts to sell a stockpile of arms to the maharaja to fend off the rebels, despite opposition from pacifist Prime Minister Singh and an attempt by insurgents to intercept the deal.
"Thunder in the East" boasts excellent direction by Charles Vidor, the camerawork of one of Hollywood's master cinematographers, Lee Garmes (who worked on most of the Von Sternberg-Dietrich masterpieces), and memorable performances by Ladd, Deborah Kerr, Charles Boyer, Cecil Kellaway, John Williams, and virtually everyone involved.
