The pious-looking Brother Edgar (Bob Hoskins) and his criminal cohort, Morales (Antonio Banderas), claim to be selling socks sewn together by blind orphans, the proceeds from which will be used to support the orphanage. In reality, Edgar and Morales are two bumbling con men drifting through the American South on a mission to scam the locals.
