The American is a 2010 American action thriller film directed by Anton Corbijn and starring George Clooney, Thekla Reuten, Violante Placido, Irina Björklund, and Paolo Bonacelli. Based on the 1990 novel A Very Private Gentleman by Martin Booth , it was loosely adapted to screenplay by Rowan Joffé .
In 2010 she played opposite George Clooney in his thriller "The American," which was shot in Europe, and in 2018 she also appeared in the 2018 Francis Lawrence spy-thriller "Red Sparrow". Last year she was awarded Best Actress twice for her lead role in critically acclaimed intimate drama "Narcosis".
