After graduating from medical school, Dr. James Kildare (Lew Ayres) travels to Connecticut to visit his father (Samuel S. Hinds), mother (Emma Dunn) and girlfriend (Lynne Carver). Despite his family's wishes, Dr. Kildare chooses to pursue a paid internship at Blair General Hospital in New York City.
