The most positive thing I can write about "Golden Rendezvous" is that it's extremely violent. The shootouts, notably in the casino when the terrorists enter, are bloody and explicit. Apart from the blood-red highlights, the film is dull and uninspired.
Golden Rendezvous is a 1977 South African action thriller film directed by Ashley Lazarus and starring Richard Harris, Ann Turkel and David Janssen. It was based on the 1962 novel The Golden Rendezvous by Alistair MacLean.
Golden Rendezvous is certainly no classic and deviates extensively from MacLean's novel, but the old Harris charisma just about carries it through the many absurdities and the oddly cordial climactic face-off with the surprise villain is rather engaging. Reviewer: Andrew Pragasam

Review by Bill Scurry ★★★★ Scottish novelist Alistair Maclean is adapted here by the dysfunctional tag team of legendary DP Freddie Francis and Safrican journeyman Ashley Lazarus. This movie is greatly maligned by many, but I loved it as a child and had a ton of fun watching it again as an adult.
