Oct 21, 1988 · With Derek Jacobi, Joan Greenwood, Max Wall, Patricia Hayes. Arthur returns to London after working abroad for many years with his now deceased father. Almost at once he becomes involved in the problems of his mother's seamstress Amy and of her father residing in the Marshalsea debtors' prison.
A mysterious watch left to him by his dying father estranges him from his cold-hearted mother, but not before Arthur meets her enigmatic young seamstress, Amy Dorrit. Suspecting that his mother is the reason Amy is living in Marshalsea debtors' prison with her father (Alec Guinness), brother and sister, Arthur offers to help.
