Jan 17, 2014 · To offset the arrival of "The Nut Job", an underwhelming 3-D animated adventure, let us take a moment to praise the "Ice Age" franchise and its acorn-addict star attraction that is a likely inspiration for this strained exercise in fur-bearing tomfoolery: Scrat, that sublime creature of Sisyphean single-mindedness. He covets his nut.

THE NUT JOB is an animated comedy following the animal inhabitants of a city park. When loner squirrel Surly ( Will Arnett ) selfishly foils the other animals' plan to swipe some nuts from a nut cart, Raccoon ( Liam Neeson ), the park leader, banishes him to the city.

User Reviews. A time well-spent. A very positive movie, which, while borrowing heavily on Over the Hedge, is still a worthy standalone sight. Perhaps some characters are a bit naive or predictable... or outright annoying, but the whole composition is alright.
