The Muppet Movie is a 1979 musical road comedy film directed by James Frawley, produced by Jim Henson, and the first theatrical film to feature the Muppets. A co-production between the United Kingdom and the United States, the film was written by The Muppet Show writers Jerry Juhl and Jack Burns.
The Muppet Movie. After a chance meeting with a talent scout, Kermit the Frog heads to Hollywood, dreaming about the world of show business. Along the way, Fozzie, Gonzo and Miss Piggy join him in hopes of becoming big stars, too.
The Muppet Movie began filming on July 5, 1978, and proceeded over 87 days in the summer and fall of that year, during a production break partway through the taping of the third season of The Muppet Show (between Helen Reddy and Harry Belafonte).
