Two boys try to drive a strict priest mad with their confessed sins at a boarding school in England. At a Catholic public school, Benjamin "Benjie" Stanfield (Dominic Guard) is tired of being the teacher's pet and decides to play a practical joke on his form master Father Goddard (Richard Burton).
When one of his teenage charges confesses to murder, the dogmatic but deeply repressed Goddard finds his faith challenged and his life spiralling dangerously out of control. At a Catholic boys' school, domineering disciplinarian Father Goddard rules over his pupils with an iron hand.
