When a lawyer loses an appeal to stop a logging company from clear-cutting Native American land, Arthur, an Indian militant drags him and the kidnapped logging mill manager into the forest.
Admirers of Graham Greene are in for a real shock with "Clearcut". This is not the lovable Indian character that you are used to seeing Greene playing. When the Native Americans lose in court trying to stop a logging company from cutting trees, Greene resorts to kidnapping and murder.
Clearcut focuses on a lawyer who has lost an appeal to stop a paper mill owner felling trees on Indian land - resulting in himself and the mill owner being dragged into the forest by a disgruntled Indian who apparently wants his revenge.
During the clearcutting of a forest, a controversy over land claims erupts and a lawyer arrives to represent the Native Americans. One of the Indians cannot suppress his anger and kidnaps the manager of the paper mill and the lawyer, taking them on a wild journey.
