Nov 3, 1995 · Woody Allen's new comedy "Mighty Aphrodite" opens with a Greek chorus, standing in an ancient amphitheater and uttering dire warnings about those who would tempt fate.
Lenny becomes obsessed with finding Max's biological parents, believing that they too must be brilliant. When he discovers Max's biological mom, Linda Ash, Lenny is disappointed: Linda is a prostitute and porn actress. On top of that, she is quite possibly the dumbest person Lenny has ever met.
As "Mighty Aphrodite" shows, Woody Allen really works best when he goes for straight comedy. In this case, he and wife Helena Bonham Carter adopt a boy who turns out to be a genius. When Woody searches for the boy's biological mother, she turns out to be an air-head prostitute (Mira Sorvino).
