Dagwood is holding a watch, a gift that his boss George Radcliffe bought for a prospective customer's secretary, Gloria Stafford, as sort of a bribe.

Overview. Blondie finds a valuable watch that has been hidden by hubby Dagwood. She assumes that it's a surprise wedding gift, but the truth is that Dagwood has been guarding the watch on behalf of a client who bought the gift for his own wife, which soon leads to trouble with his boss, a loan shark, and crooked building contractors. After returning home, Dagwood discovers that Blondie has found the watch, mistaking it for her anniversary gift. Unable to level with her, Ollie Merton (Jack Rice), Dagwood's co-worker, recommends borrowing money from "Sharkey" a loan-shark (William Frawley) and buying a new watch.
