The Big Bird Cage is a 1972 American exploitation film of the "women in prison" subgenre. It serves as a non-sequel follow-up to the 1971 film The Big Doll House. The film was written and directed by Jack Hill, and stars Pam Grier, Sid Haig, Anitra Ford, and Carol Speed.
Placed in a brutal all-women prison somewhere in the impenetrable jungles of the Philippines, social-climber Terry finds herself imprisoned after a fateful encounter with tough-as-nails revolutionary Blossom and her rebel boyfriend Django.
Assigned to grueling labor in the fields at the prison camp, Rina suffers a breakdown and is imprisoned in the "mad house," a primitive cage filled with frenzied women. In the infirmary, Lin Tsiang witnesses one of the inmates steal a bottle of embalming alcohol for personal consumption.
