- Covering the mouth while yawning. This superstition came about since people believed the devil could sneak into one’s mouth if they didn’t cover it. Alternatively, covering the mouth was necessary as a way to prevent your spirit from leaving the body.
- Saying “bless you” when someone sneezes. Most likely origin story is that saying “bless you” after sneezing became popular during the Middle Ages as a way to protect someone from the bubonic plague that was ravaging Europe at the time.
