With the help of his wife, Katie (Michele Greene), abusive husband Reese Williams (Marc Singer) decides to fake his own death for $5 million in life insurance money. While he's out hunting with his brother-in-law, Charlie (John Ratzenberger), Reese's plan goes awry when an unseen person fires at him. He plunges off a cliff and is declared dead, but the lack of a corpse arouses the suspicion of insurance investigators Mac (George Dzundza) and John (William Katt).
