  4. Blackwell’s Island. 1939. Well, it was short. Sure, Blackwell’s Island is a thematically flawed gangster/prison mashup from Warner Brothers, but it’s still entertaining and features a compelling climax. Certainly the biggest problem with the film is that it doesn’t know what it wants to be.
