Some new Alien 5 concept art has emerged online, offering fans a glimpse of what Neill Blomkamp originally had planned for the sequel.
Artist and illustrator Geoffroy Thoorens posted a new batch of concept art that he worked on for Blomkamp's scrapped Aliens sequel, which was reportedly going to ignore the events of 1992's Alien 3 and 1997's Alien: Resurrection and bring back characters like Lance Henriksen's Bishop, Michael Biehn's Corporal Hicks, and Carrie Henn's Newt alongside Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley.According to Thoorens, the latest images offer snapshots of various ideas the team had "before the final script." The art spotlights some of these early concepts, including a room containing wired-up Xenomorph eggs, together with an illustration that appears to show Ripley stepping out in a Xenomorph disguise to battle an Alien Queen. Thoorens confirmed to a follower that it was a biomechanoid suit.
In another comment, Thoorens confirmed that "30 or 40" sketches were made for the aborted Alien sequel, tentatively titled Alien: Red Harvest, before the project was stalled as 20th Century Fox chose to focus on Ridley Scott's Prometheus follow-up, Alien: Covenant. Blomkamp confirmed in October 2015 that Alien 5 had been put on indefinite hold and that he had moved on to other projects.
