Summaries. In 1939, an Englishwoman inherits a sprawling ranch in northern Australia and reluctantly makes a pact with a stockman to drive 2000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscape. In northern Australia at the beginning of World War II, an English aristocrat inherits a cattle station the size of Maryland.
