The Barnes Foundation is an art collection and educational institution promoting the appreciation of art and horticulture. Originally in Merion , the art collection moved in 2012 to a new building on Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania .
The mission of the Barnes is to promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and horticulture. Our founder, Dr. Albert C. Barnes, believed that art had the power to improve minds and transform lives. Our diverse educational programs are based on his teachings and one-of-a-kind collections.
May 11, 2024 · Barnes Foundation, foundation established by physician Albert C. Barnes in 1922 to “promote the advancement of education and appreciation of the fine arts.” The organization operates two main campuses in Pennsylvania. (The Barnes country house, Ker-Feal, is not open to the public.)
