They consisted of schoolmates Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart (now Cowart Motley), and Georgia Dobbins, who was replaced by Wanda Young prior to the group signing their first deal.
The Marvelettes, American girl group that formed in 1961 and disbanded in the late 1960s. Its notable songs included ‘Please Mr. Postman,’ which was Motown Record’s first number one pop single; ‘Playboy’; ‘Beechwood 4-5789’; and ‘Too Many Fish in the Sea.’
