The Magnetic Fields (named after the André Breton/Philippe Soupault novel Les Champs Magnétiques) [1] are an American band founded and led by Stephin Merritt. Merritt is the group's primary songwriter, producer, and vocalist, as well as frequent multi-instrumentalist.
