Wolfmother returned in 2009 after a brief hiatus with a line-up including Ian Peres, Aidan Nemeth and Dave Atkins. After their performance at Splendour in the Grass on 3 August 2008, it was reported that Wolfmother "looked tense and uncommunicative with each other", leading to rumours that the band were to imminently break up.
Stockdale recorded "Back Round" with Resin Dogs drummer Dave Atkins later in the year, before unveiling the full new lineup early the next year, which also included Ian Peres on bass and keyboards, and Aidan Nemeth on rhythm guitar. The second lineup's only album Cosmic Egg was released in 2009.

Apr 17, 2024 · It is the first album by the second lineup of the band, featuring vocalist, songwriter and lead guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres, rhythm guitarist Aidan Nemeth and drummer Dave Atkins, formed in 2009 after original members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett left in August 2008.
