Ulrike Haage spent her childhood in Ruhr. She grew up listening to the big jazz record collection of her parents [1] and trained to play piano listening to masters as Bill Evans and Thelonious Monk, improvising. As a teenager she started singing and playing guitar in a garage-band.
Ulrike Haage verbrachte ihre Kindheit im Ruhrgebiet. Über die Jazzplattensammlung ihrer Eltern fand sie in jungen Jahren zur Musik. Klavier übte sie mit Aufnahmen von Bill Evans und Thelonious Monk. Später sang sie und spielte Gitarre in einer Garagenband. Haage zog nach Hamburg und studierte dort Musik und Musiktherapie.
Ulrike Haage composes and directs contemporary works for films and radio, mostly published with the audiobook label Sans Soleil and the record label Blue Pearls Music. Since 2004 she releases highly respected Solo CDs. Following Sélavy (2004) and Weisses Land (2006), she has released her third solo album (2011) entitled In:finitum.
Ulrike Haage, a pianist, composer and sound artist was the first woman to receive in 2003 the German Jazz Prize for her interdisciplinary artistic work. She received numerous awards for her radio play productions and film music compositions. Since many years Ulrike Haage has been working with Christian Meyer in the field of film and dance theatre.
