Shay Kavanagh. Born and raised in Dublin, Shay’s first instrument was the drum kit. His dad was a drummer and it was inevitable his sense of rhythm would be passed on.
Both Shay Kavanagh (Bass) and Stephen Leeson (Guitar & Vocals), veteran members who played in later lineups with the Dublin City Ramblers. Kavanagh replaced ex-Dubliner Eamonn Campbell in The Dublin Legends after Campbell died of a short illness in October 2017.

However, some members of the group continued touring under the name of The Dublin Legends. As of 2024, Sean Cannon is the only remaining member of the Dubliners in that group, following the retirement of Patsy Watchorn in 2014 and the death of Eamonn Campbell in 2017.
When lead guitarist Eamonn Campbell sadly passed away in 2017 the lads asked an old friend, Shay Kavanagh, if he would like to come on the road with them and Shay readily agreed. He is a stalwart of the Irish Folk Music scene.
