John Anthony Genzale (July 15, 1952 – April 23, 1991), known professionally as Johnny Thunders, was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He came to prominence in the early 1970s as a member of New York Dolls. He later played with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist.

As Loudwire reports, on April 23, 1991, he was found in a "ransacked" New Orleans building, with his body twisted and a "significant" — yet arguably not fatal — amount of drugs in his system. He was also suffering from advanced leukemia, according to Loudwire.
