David Michael Gauke (/ ɡ ɔː k /; born 8 October 1971) is a British political commentator, solicitor and former politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for South West Hertfordshire from 2005 to 2019.
David Gauke lost the Conservative whip in 2019 for backing the Benn Act, but still criticises Johnson's populism and nationalism. He is now a columnist, policy adviser and misses government, especially the furlough scheme.
