The Zuiderkerk (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzœydərˌkɛr(ə)k], "southern church") is a 17th-century Protestant church in the Nieuwmarkt area of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The church played an important part in the life of Rembrandt and was the subject of a painting by Claude Monet .
The Zuiderkerk was built between 1603 and 1611, and was the first Protestant church of Amsterdam. The splendid tower was completed in 1614. Zuiderkerk (1603-1614), located in the Nieuwmarkt neighbourhood, was Amsterdam's first church built specifically for Protestant services.

The church is a pseudo-basilica and consists of a central nave and two slightly lower aisles. The gable ends on the north and south sides are very richly decorated in Renaissance shapes.
