   Jul 2021. This is a really nice state park with great scenery and lots of amenities. The hike to Valley View overlook and Pfeiffer Falls is fairly easy (though with lots of stairs) and includes great views and a pretty cascade. There are some other nice little trails along the Big Sur River.

   You could almost call it a mini-Yosemite. It has almost everything to offer, albeit on a smaller scale: waterfall, river for swimming/wading, many good hikes, nice ranger-led events/programs. The campground itself offers large sites, with plenty of room for two cars and many tents on each site.

   Are Dogs Allowed at Pfeiffer Big Sur state park?

   • There are no dogs allowed at the campsite. Check in is at the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park entrance kiosk. Both group camps are 1/4 mile north of the entrance of the park, west of Highway 1 and southwest of the Big Sur River. Parking is on the side of Highway 1. Each reservation includes parking passes for 10 vehicles.

   Is Pfeiffer Beach a good place to visit?

   • The Pfeiffer falls trail was closed when we went. Pfeiffer beach is closeby and worth visiting too, but not actually in the state park. Interesting park with redwood trees. Interesting park with a lot of redwood trees, some very big and impressing. Several trails from short and easy to longer and therefore more tiering ones.
