The peaceful and often deserted trails run along the Willapa Bay shoreline for more than 10 miles, passing through maritime forests, mudflats and grassy sand dunes. Work your way through lowland shrubs and forest and head west on the Weather Beach to the coast.

Leadbetter Point State Park is a natural area open for day use. The park features beach frontage on the Pacific Ocean and Willapa Bay. It borders the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge which has about five miles of ocean beach and several miles of bay beach.
After one-half mile south on the beach, we connected with the Weather Beach trail to the Dune Forest trail, back to the parking area, a total of about 5 miles. An excellent hike beside Willipa Bay, through the forested dunes, to the Pacific Ocean and back again.
Leadbetter Point State Park’s 1,732-acre expanse provides a captivating blend of Pacific Ocean beachfront and Willapa Bay serenity. Along the Leadbetter Loop Trail, you’ll encounter a diverse array of birds, from eagles and peregrine falcons to brown pelicans, terns, and ducks.

A walk through the coastal forest and tidal flats of Leadbetter Point State Park, the Dune Forest Loop is a nice way to see this low-lying peninsula, but the conditions on trail are heavily dependent on the tides and recent rainfall.
Leadbetter Point State Park provides a multitude of coastal activities. Visitors can enjoy wildlife viewing, long secluded walks on the beach and in the dunes, clamming, and boating in Willapa Bay. Long Beach also provides miles of beach to explore, and is accessible via trail from Leadbetter Point State Park.
