known as sitt(-i) Hatun, second wife of sultan mehmed ii (r. 1444–46, 1451–81), was not the mother but the step mother of Bayezid (r. 1481–1512). For unexplained rea-sons ayverdi chose to accept as the mosque’s founder the woman named mükrime, not the woman who was in fact the mother of Bayezid, gülbahar Hatun (d. 1492).
