Erik Gustavovich Laxmann ( Russian: Эрик (Кирилл) Густавович Лаксман) (July 27, 1737 – January 6, 1796) was a Finnish-Swedish clergyman, explorer and natural scientist born in Savonlinna (Nyslott) in Finland, then part of Sweden.

Biography. Finnish naturalist and Lutheran priest in Siberia. Born in Nyslott (Savonlinna), Erik Laxmann studied at the Åbo Academy (now Turku) from 1757 and moved to St. Petersburg in 1762 where he was ordained as a priest.
