Kalpathi Ramakrishna Ramanathan (28 February 1893 – 31 December 1984) was an Indian physicist and meteorologist. He was the first director of Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. [1] From 1954 to 1957, Ramanathan was President of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).
Ramdas inves-tigated the scattering of light by liquid surfaces due to thermal agitation, and established a relation between surface-tension and surface-opalescence. He also traced the transition from surface-opalescence to volume-opalescence which occurs at the critical temperature.
