David Trueba nace en Madrid, en septiembre de 1969. El menor de ocho hermanos estudia Periodismo y en la actualidad firma una columna de opinión cada martes en el periódico El país. Tras rodarse su primer guión de largometraje, viaja a Los Ángeles para estudiar cine en el American Film Institute.
