Anton Pavlovich Chekhov [a] (Russian: Антон Павлович Чехов [b], IPA: [ɐnˈton ˈpavləvʲɪtɕ ˈtɕexəf]; 29 January 1860 [c] – 15 July 1904 [d]) was a Russian playwright and short-story writer.
