Shantaram is a 2003 novel by Gregory David Roberts, in which a convicted Australian bank robber and heroin addict escapes from Pentridge Prison and flees to India. The novel is commended by many for its vivid portrayal of life in Bombay in the early to late 1980s.
Shantaram is an American-Australian drama thriller television series created by Eric Warren Singer and Steve Lightfoot, based on the novel of the same name by Gregory David Roberts. [1] The story drew inspiration from Roberts' own life, which is about a bank robber from Australia who flees the country to India.
Shantaram: With Charlie Hunnam, Fayssal Bazzi, Sujaya Dasgupta, Antonia Desplat. Lindsay arrives in Mumbai after escaping from an Australian prison. He meets Prabhakar who takes him to his native village where he relaunches his criminal career as Shantaram in the city's notorious underworld.
