Sep 4, 2012 · In 1984, PBS mixed drama with educational programming in the form of a 13 episode TV series called The Voyage of the Mimi. Each show began with a 15 minute fictional adventure of the sea vessel and its crew as it set out on a whale documenting voyage.
The crew of the small ship named the Mimi gather at the harbor, ready to take off on a whaling expedition. They include an oceanographer, who is the boss on the journey, her deaf assistant, an accomplished marine biologist, two high school students, and a young boy whose grandfather is the ship's captain.
