The New Batman Adventures aired alternately in the same time slot with Superman: The Animated Series. It was also known as Batman: Gotham Knights during production. The New Batman Adventures featured Batman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl.
Picking up years after Batman: The Animated Series, the series highlights Batman and his crimefighting cadre of Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl, as they join forces to battle Gotham City's classic super-villains.
The Scarecrow threatens to unleash a powerful new toxin on Gotham City that removes all fear, leaving its victims unafraid of deadly danger. Complications arise when Batman is exposed to the gas.
The New Batman Adventures is the continuation of Batman: The Animated Series/ The Adventures of Batman & Robin. It features a completely different animation style in-line with Superman: The Animated Series. It was later reformatted as The New Batman/Superman Adventures.
