Dan August is an American drama series that aired on ABC from September 23, 1970, to April 8, 1971. Burt Reynolds played the title character. Reruns of the series aired in prime time on CBS from May to October 1973 and from April to June 1975.

His first starred Christopher George as Lt. Dan August, a homicide detective in the fictional Southern California city of Santa Luisa. Based on the novel of the same name, House on Greenapple Road was a ratings success, and ABC ordered a spin-off series for the fall of 1970 to be called Dan August.
After a young waitress is brutally raped and killed in a city park, Dan orders a round-up of all known sex offenders in the area. When a second body is found nearby, that of a young housewife who apparently died in a car accident, he wonders whether the waitress saw something she shouldn't have seen.
