Pierre Mac Orlan, sometimes written MacOrlan (born Pierre Dumarchey; February 26, 1882 – June 27, 1970), was a French novelist and songwriter. His novel Quai des Brumes was the source for Marcel Carné 's 1938 film of the same name, starring Jean Gabin .

Biography. Author of humorous tales, e.g. Le Rêve jaune (1913), La Bête conquérante (1914), and of novels of adventure, often with an exotic element, and with pirates, and occasionally the devil, prominent among the characters ( Le Chant de l'équipage, 1918; La Cavalière Elsa, 1921; La Vénus internationale, 1923).
