Billy Liar. (TV series) Billy Liar is a sitcom of 26 30-minute episodes over two series made by London Weekend Television in 1973–1974 which starred Jeff Rawle as Billy Fisher. [1] In addition there was a short five-minute long special as part of the All Star Comedy Carnival broadcast on 25 December 1973.
Billy Liar: With Jeff Rawle, George A. Cooper, Pamela Vezey, May Warden. Billy is an idealistic young man trapped in a boring life. He does a boring job in the office of a funeral home with a perpetually strict employer, he dates a foolish girl who can't satisfy him.

Billy Liar is a 1959 novel by Keith Waterhouse [1] that was later adapted into a play, a film, a musical and a TV series. The work has inspired and been featured in a number of popular songs. The semi-comical story is about William Fisher, a working-class 19-year-old living with his parents in the fictional town of Stradhoughton in Yorkshire.
