A gritty urban crime show, but with a difference. Each week the action is bisected neatly into two halves, so that the audience gets two genres for the price of one. During the first segment, tough but compassionate cops go after a criminal, usually a murderer, and place him or her in detention.
Two students pay a drifter to murder their law professor because they despise him as a symbol of the kind of left-wing, soft-on-crime ideology they believe will destroy the country. When the professor kills his assailant instead, he finds himself on trial for first-degree murder.
