Wed, Nov 5, 1958. Dr. Victor Payson, a widower for just six months and father of a teenage daughter, is slated for the post of Chief of Surgeons of Collins General Hospital. But his romance with a young divorcee causes doubt among Payson's colleagues as to his suitability for the job. The doubt is planted by the wife of the hospital's director.
